These are no ordinary times but another challenging and painful period in the history of Israel and of the Hebrew University now entering its 100th year.
Since the 1920s, the Hebrew University has not only maintained its position as Israel’s leading centre of advanced learning and research, but continues to serve as a light to the nations collaborating and sharing knowledge globally, promoting dialogue, pluralism and tolerance. Conflicts, economic challenges, boycotts – all have been overcome but once again have returned in force.
Even as the University rises to face many challenges, this comes at a price – mobilisation of thousands of students, fatalities, trauma, pressure on the University community, academic impact, psychological welfare, financial challenges. Which is why your donation in this special Rosh Hashana appeal will be fully designated to the Hebrew University President’s Fund, enabling his senior team to devote the results of your generosity to the most pressing needs facing the University (Medical group donations will be directed particularly to support medical students who have found themselves both in combat and volunteering on the home front).
Wars end but the scars remain which is why this year, please do give as generously as possible, a time as urgent as any in the University’s 100-year history. Our mission of hope and benefit to humankind is eternal.
Thank you for your generous support; please donate here or directly to your charity account where possible. For other payment methods please call the BFHU office on 020 8349 5757.
May we all enjoy a New Year of health and above all peace leading to long-term stability and optimism for all communities.
