Join us at JW3 to hear an illustrious panel of experts in discussion featuring Professor Philippe Sands KC, HU Professor Yuval Shany and Professor Anat Scolnicov, chaired by Lord Pannick KC
There are growing concerns about the future of the rule-based international order, also known as the international rule of law, due to a combination of high profile violent conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East and beyond, the rise of populist and authoritarian leaders across different regions, and the limited ability of international bodies, including international courts, to rein in violence and stop the ongoing violations of international law.
The panel will discuss the current state of the international rule of law, the reasons for the period of crisis we find ourselves in, and possible ways to revitalise the rule-based international order. Particular attention would be given in this regard to the role of domestic and international courts in enforcing international law in ways that are credible and effective.
