Middle Eastern music, as represented in the diverse cultures of the region, and as perceived or imagined by Europeans, has played a key role in the creation and development of Israeli popular songs.

Join the U.S. Hebrew University Alumni Association as HU Prof. Oded Erez will tune into the history of this relationship, from the time of early Zionist settlement in Palestine, through the early decades of the State of Israel and the arrival en masse of Mizrahi and Sephardi Jews, to contemporary negotiations of "Israeliness" in music.
