The Lionel Cohen Lecture Series (since 1953)
The British Friends of the Hebrew University and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem Faculty of Law cordially invite you to a lecture by
Lord Andrew Burrows QC
“Judges and Academics, and the Endless Road to Unattainable Perfection”
The lecture will examine the relationship between legal academic and judges. How does academic work help judges? How has the work of academic lawyers influenced the House of Lords and UK Supreme Court? How does writing a judgement differ from writing a law article? The title of the lecture derives from one of the judgements of the great Lord Goff in which he said the following “Jurists are pilgrims with us on the endless road to unattainable perfection; and we have it on the excellent authority of Geoffrey Chaucer that conversations among pilgrims can be most rewarding”
